ANNICKE SHIREEN, Sängerin und Gründerin der ‘Witchpop’ Band SHIREEN und Mitglied des Live Performance Ensembles HEILUNG präsentierte 26.03.2021 ihre Solo-Debüt-EP über das deutsche Label Foxy Records. Die EP „The Serpent“ ist geschrieben und produziert worden mit dem niederländischen Schlagzeuger und Produzenten Koen Herfst (Vandenberg, Voodoo Chambers u.a.)

THE SERPENT ist eine eindringlich dunkle und stimmungsvolle Crossover-EP, die drei Songs mit bezaubernd femininem Gesang, schweren Schlagzeug und einem Hauch Elektronik umfasst. Was das Genre betrifft: Stellt euch vor BJÖRK, OPETH, DEFTONES und TORI AMOS treffen sich zu einer Songwriting Session.

Das Projekt entspann sich spontan zu Beginn der Corona Pandemie.
Annicke: “In the beginning of 2020 Koen contacted me to talk about styling for a new project that he was working on. After our first coffee we clicked so well on a personal level that we decided to dive into the studio to write music together.” 

Und so begann die gemeinsame Reise durch Genres und Gefühle:
“Because I create very intuitively, I can be emotionally fickle when writing music, but Koen exactly understood my mood every time, even when I sometimes felt like falling apart. His input was key for creating the right vibe for each of these songs. From the first studio session onwards it was clear to me that we connected well on a musical level and in a short time we wrote many songs together, exploring different genres and finding out how intricately our creative worlds could meet. Writing with Koen was a very inspiring and rewarding collaboration for me.”
